Ontario Attic Insulation Rebate For Newmarket Homes
Ontario attic rebates up to $1,250 may applyA Newmarket owner whose thin attic is brought up to R-50 may qualify for an attic insulation rebate under Home Renovation Savings, the province-wide program run jointly by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas. The thinner the attic was, the larger the attic insulation rebate.
Two routes lead to the money, and they differ on who may do the installing. Everything on this page was last checked October 2026. As of that check the attic insulation rebate is currently scheduled to end November 30, 2026, though that date was pushed back once before, from November 30, 2025, and a further extension is possible; still, the money is paid in the order claims arrive, so applying early is the safer play. Attic Insulation Rebate details
Route One: The Attic Insulation Rebate With No Assessment
The standalone stream skips the energy audit. The attic insulation rebate on this route is set by the R-value your attic begins at, with R-50 as the finish line every time:
R-12 or less at the start earns up to $1,250.
R-13 to R-25 at the start earns up to $1,000.
R-26 to R-35 at the start earns up to $800.
Cathedral ceilings and flat roofs get their own pair of tiers: $750 when R-25 or less becomes R-28, and $650 when R-12 or less becomes R-20. Whatever the tier, the attic insulation rebate never exceeds 50% of what you paid after tax, and you insulate every reachable part of the attic rather than one thin corner.
The catch is the installer. On the standalone route a contractor already on the program's participating list must do the work and file the application. Registration for new contractors is closed, so the list is fixed at six names: Great Northern Insulation, George Kent, Home Depot, Solidcare, EcoComfort and Brand Insulation. Look that list over on the program site before deciding who does the work, since an attic insulation rebate on this route only ever arrives via one of those six.
Route Two: The Attic Insulation Rebate With An Assessment
The assessment stream opens with a visit from a registered energy advisor, who tests the house and writes a report. You pick at least two upgrades from it, choose any contractor you like, then book the advisor back for a second test. Here the attic insulation rebate rises to $1,500 (starting at R-12 or less), $1,200 (R-13 to R-25) or $900 (R-26 to R-35); a cathedral ceiling or flat roof gets $780.
Attic air sealing is on the same upgrade list, and it is the attic air sealing we do before any top-up anyway, so the two pair up neatly on one attic insulation rebate application.
Who Qualifies For The Attic Insulation Rebate
The attic insulation rebate goes to the owner of the house. Detached, semi-detached, row and non-stacked townhouses qualify, as do mobile homes on a permanent foundation. A gas-heated home needs an Enbridge Gas account in good standing plus a furnace or boiler burning gas; a home heated by wood, oil, propane or electricity needs a connection to Ontario's electricity grid. Stacked townhouses do not qualify, and neither does a home that has been occupied for six months or less, nor any address where Enbridge, Save on Energy or a different Ontario program has already paid out for attic insulation. Landlords can apply for a rental they own, and a seasonal cottage may qualify as well.
Depth Readings Make The Paperwork Easy
Every attic insulation rebate application wants a starting depth and a finished one. Our two readings supply both numbers, each converted to an R-value, printed on the quote and again on the invoice. When an advisor's report sets a target, our attic insulation top-up quote is written to reach it.

Jobs That Often Share The Same Visit
Sealing, the hatch and a top-up tend to share one install day, which spares you a second visit.
-
Attic Insulation Top-Up
An attic insulation top-up keeps your existing fill and blows a fresh layer over it until the attic reads R-60. Our two depth readings record exactly how many inches went on.
-
Cellulose Insulation
Cellulose insulation starts life as newsprint and cardboard, shredded and treated so it resists fire and pests, and we blow it across the attic floor as loose fill. Because it tucks in around wiring, nails and truss webs, cellulose insulation is the material we pick most often for older attics.
-
Blown-In Fiberglass Attic Insulation
Blown-in fiberglass insulation arrives as fluffy spun glass that the hose lays down in a soft, even blanket. It will not soak up water, puts very little weight on the ceiling and holds its depth for years.
-
Attic Insulation Removal And Replacement
Attic insulation removal clears out fill that is damp, mouldy, fouled by mice or squirrels, or crushed past saving. With the joists bare and the ceiling sealed, new attic insulation is blown back in to full depth.
-
Attic Air Sealing
Attic air sealing shuts the small openings where heated house air pours up into the attic, with spray foam, caulk and fitted covers. We do it before any new attic insulation goes down, since insulation slows heat yet lets moving air straight through.
-
Attic Hatch Insulation
Attic hatch insulation turns a thin, drafty access lid into part of the insulated ceiling. We gasket the frame and glue a thick stack of foam board onto the lid, so the hatch holds heat like the attic around it.
-
Ice Dam Prevention
Ice dam prevention aims to hold the roof deck at outdoor temperature, so high snow stays frozen instead of melting and refreezing at the eaves. In practice that means sealing the ceiling, keeping soffit air moving and bringing the attic insulation to full depth.
-
Attic Insulation Cost
Four things drive attic insulation cost in Newmarket: how big the attic is, which material you pick, how many inches are already up there, and whether a clear-out comes first. Most homes pay between $1,500 and $3,500.
